For most elementary students, reading and writing comprehension and mathematics are the areas requiring most attention, posing the biggest concern to parents.
OUR PHILOSOPHY & PROCESS:
Our elementary tutoring team follows our main philosophy and mission for all of our programs: to assist their students until they are satisfied that the education objective has been achieved.
WHERE WE START:
We start with an informal evaluation of the student’s strengths beginning at their current grade level based on state standards and state examinations.
WHEN & HOW EVALUATIONS OCCUR:
Evaluations occur at the student’s first session. Specific evaluations are designed by the Education Director and Tutor assigned to work with your student. It is our policy, however, to avoid unnecessary testing as well as the expense of testing. Before the student’s evaluation, please send our office any pertinent information that may assist in establishing a tutoring program (report cards, STAAR results, IEPs, etc.).
WE COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR STUDENT’S TEACHER(S):
With parental consent, the Education Director and your student’s tutor(s) are able to directly coordinate our customized learning plan for your student with that of their classroom teachers! All we need is a signed parental consent form.
WORKING WITH OUR TEAM, SCHEDULING, & STUDENT/PARENT COMMITMENT:
Tutor Assignments: Our Education Director chooses the most qualified tutors for your student based on scheduling availability for both the tutor and student, as well as factoring in specific requests and personalities.
Scheduling: Elementary students are encouraged to attend one or two hour-long sessions per week for the best learning outcomes.
Student/Parent Dedication & Commitment: In addition to your student’s in-office tutoring each week, students will be assigned homework that reinforces the skills and strategies taught in their sessions. It is crucial for elementary students to complete their assignments with parental encouragement and support. Homework assignments not only reinforce skills, but also act as additional assessments for the tutors on your student’s in school and at-home progress.
